Active City Journal

Write for us

We welcome thoughtful pitches about urban recreation and the ways people find places to move, play and take part in city life. Send proposals through the Contact page, with the reason for writing set to editorial question.

What we welcome

Pitch clear, evergreen ideas about shared activity spaces, first steps into group play, the character of informal games, or how city routes connect people with recreation. We are especially interested in pieces that explain a choice or custom in a way a general reader can use without specialist credentials.

A useful pitch

Include a working title, the central question, the reader who would benefit and a short account of the piece's main points. Say what makes the idea distinct from familiar coverage and identify any experience, sources or permissions the proposed piece would rely on. Do not send a complete draft unless requested.

What to avoid

We cannot use pitches built around unsupported claims, invented scenes or advice that requires readers to rely on professional judgement. Please flag any potential conflicts of interest and any commercial connection relevant to the proposal.

How to send it

Use the Contact page to submit your proposal. A pitch is a suggestion, not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before preparing or submitting a full article.

Our point of view

An active city is made by taking part

We look beyond facilities to the people, habits and shared spaces that make activity part of city life. Every entry point counts, whether you arrive ready to play or simply curious.
